City Sewers Future Construction

Upper Beachwood East Maintenance Hole Addition Project

This project is will be built in the Hollywood Hills. The approximate project boundaries are Beachwood Drive on the north and west, Hollyridge Drive on the east, and Westshire Drive on the south.

QUICK FACTS

  • These sewers contain many sharp bends, and do not have adequate maintenance holes for access and repair. This project will provide the much needed maintenance holes to allow proper sewer service and reduce the possibility of spills and odors.
  • Fifty-two shallow maintenance holes and approximately 1580 linear feet of 8-inch sewers will be constructed.
  • Construction period: fall 2009 through late 2010. Weather or other circumstances could shift the work schedule. Residents will be informed as conditions warrant.
  • Construction will generally take place Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., and on major streets from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. to minimize traffic impacts.
  • Estimated Cost: $1,150,000.
  • Construction method will be open cut (trenching). Due to the narrow, winding, hilly streets and congested, shallow, underground utilities, the duration of the work that may take place in front of your property is unknown at this time. Any inconveniences to you will be minimized as much as possible while the work is underway.
  • Trucks and other equipment such as pipes will be used during construction, and you may see open trench excavation and debris removal.
  • Dust control will be provided in all project areas.
  • Enclosures or other barriers will be used in construction areas wherever necessary for public safety. Please do not enter the construction work area.
  • Local access will be allowed. Traffic will be restored to normal when construction has been completed at the end of each workday.
  • Trash pickup, deliveries, access to businesses and residential driveways will be maintained whenever possible; in the event that temporary access is blocked you will be properly notified.
  • Parking will be temporarily restricted in some areas, and signs will be posted in advance telling you where and when. You will be notified 24 to 48 hours in advance whenever sewer service may be temporarily interrupted.
