City Sewers Future Construction
Central Area Cement Sewer Renewal Program
Unit 6
The Department of Public Works will begin replacing sewers in the vicinity of Western Avenue and 65th Street in early 2008. Inspections show that portions of these sewers are in poor condition. Crews will work on sewers in 64th Street, 65th Street and 65th Place between Western Avenue and Denker Avenue.
The sewers in this project area have been inspected using remote-operated cameras. Engineers will make further inspections once trenches are dug and the pipes are exposed. Completion of this project will help protect the local community’s health and safety, and contribute to a more efficient sewer system. This project is being paid for by the sewer service charges (included in water bills) that have been collected over the past several years.
