City Sewers Future Construction
Buchanan Relief Sewer
The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works will soon begin construction on a sewer project in a portion of Eagle Rock. The Buchanan Relief Sewer will provide additional capacity and prevent spills in this area. The project will be built by placing the new pipes in trenches dug in the streets. The City will make every effort to minimize disturbances to this neighborhood.
CONSTRUCTION FACTS
- Construction method: open trench
- Construction period: November 2007 – December 2008
- 3,100 linear feet of 18” diameter sewer
- Project cost: $2.8 million
- Work will take place on portions of Lincoln Ave. , Ave. 54, Buchanan St. , and Ave. 56
- Twelve new maintenance holes will be built
- Construction will generally take place Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
- Some service interruptions may take place when the residential sewers are reconnected to the new sewer – residents will be notified 24 to 48 hours in advance
- Traffic and parking controls will be in effect - parking signs will be posted and flaggers will be used where traffic is impacted
- Safe and adequate pedestrian and vehicle access will be maintained at all times to residences, businesses and fire hydrants
- Each trench will be completed in 10 to 12 business days Trash pickup, deliveries, access to businesses and residential driveways will be maintained
