Golden State and I-10 Freeway Sewer Rehabilitation Project
This sewer pipe rehabilitation project is scheduled to begin in November 2007 in Boyle Heights and Lincoln Heights. The approximate project boundary is Zonal Ave. on the north, Chicago St. on the east, Mission Rd. on the west, and Cesar Chavez Ave. on the south.
QUICK FACTS
- About 1/2 mile of sewer pipes ranging from 6 to 8 inches in diameter will be rehabilitated or removed and replaced.
- One maintenance hole will be rebuilt.
- Construction period: November 2007 through May 2009.
- Construction will generally take place Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Construction on the following streets will be limited from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - State St. between City View Ave. and Sheridan St.; Mission Rd. between Richmond St. and Gallardo St.; and Cesar Chavez Ave. between Warren St. and Bridge St.
- Estimated Cost: $554,000.
- Construction methods will include sewer pipe lining (rehabilitates defective sewers without excavation and surface disruption), and sewer pipe removal and replacement (performed by “open cut” or trenching, a method that is typically used where sewers are shallow).
- In order to minimize disruption on your street, most of the construction work at each location will be completed in about 5-10 business days.
- Trucks and other equipment such as pipes will be used during construction, and you may see open trench excavation and debris removal.
- Dust control will be provided in all project areas.
