City Sewers Completed Construction
San Fernando Road - Pasadena Avenue
Sewer Rehabilitation Project
The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works began working on a new sewer rehabilitation project near San Fernando Road & Pasadena Avenue in March 2006. The condition of the sewers was determined by using a submersible camera and a closed circuit TV system. Some of the sewer pipelines were 70 to 80 years old, deteriorating, and in need of rehabilitation.
Most of the work took place in short trenches that were dug in about four streets located in neighborhoods near San Fernando Road and Pasadena Avenue. Traffic flow, trash pick-up, and access to homes and businesses were maintained during this work. The work plans included many controls to minimize neighborhood impacts.
Construction moved quickly along the repair routes and most parts of the community were only impacted for short periods of time. Project neighbors received notifications that detailed construction schedules and other specific project information. The project was paid for by the sewer service charges that are included in water bills.
